Every ULTIMATE Maryland team is led by at least two dedicated coaches. In addition, our collegiate student-athletes return to coach during school breaks, providing teams with additional instruction, mentorship, and support throughout the year, primarily in the winter and summer. Directors Meg Whittle and Jessy Morgan are actively involved across all age groups and will be present throughout the year at practices, tournaments, clinics, and club events to provide additional oversight and support.

Our coaching staff is made up entirely of women who have competed and/or coached at the high school, collegiate, and NCAA levels. Many of our coaches grew up playing lacrosse in Maryland, giving them firsthand knowledge of the local lacrosse landscape and the NCAA recruiting process. We are also proud to operate with NO PARENT COACHES, ensuring that every athlete receives objective instruction in a professional, player-focused environment.

ULTIMATE Maryland offers three tryout sessions during the summer: June 23-24, July 9-10, and July 16-17. Athletes only need to attend one tryout session. Tryout Registration Link is HERE!

Throughout the tryout, our Premier Team coaches and directors evaluate athletes on a variety of factors, including fundamentals, technical skills, athleticism, communication, coachability, and lacrosse IQ. Following each session, the coaching staff meets to review evaluations and make roster decisions.

After the conclusion of each tryout session, families will receive an email communication from the club with either an invitation to join ULTIMATE Maryland or notification that a roster spot was not available. Athletes who receive an invitation will be provided with a timeline for accepting their roster spot.

We will carry between 20-25 athletes per grad-year team. We carry 2 goalies per grad-year team.

ULTIMATE Maryland teams practice throughout the year, with 16 practices scheduled per season. Athletes in the 2030 graduation year participate during the Fall, Winter, and Summer seasons, while athletes in the 2031-2037 graduation years participate during the Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer seasons.

Families should anticipate approximately 3-4 tournament weekends in both the Fall and Summer. For athletes in the 2031-2033 graduation years, families should also expect 7-8 weekends of competition during the Spring season through participation in the National Girls Lacrosse League (NGLL).

We understand that families balance multiple commitments and encourage athletes to communicate proactively with their coaches regarding scheduling conflicts. Our goal is to provide a competitive and developmental experience while supporting well-rounded student-athletes.

Club dues for the 2026-2027 season vary by graduation year and are designed to cover the core components of the ULTIMATE Maryland experience.

Your club dues include:

The following expenses are not included in annual club dues:

• Travel expenses associated with practices and tournaments, including transportation, lodging, and meals
• Optional ULTIMATE Maryland camps, clinics, and supplemental training opportunities open to all athletes
• ULTIMATE Maryland Player Package (~$200)

Payment is due by way of a $500 deposit and then installment payments. The first payment is due on acceptance of your roster spot. The remaining payments will run automatically every month until the balance is paid. We take 10 installments through the year, August through May. 

Yes! Our 2031, 2032, and 2033 teams will participate in the National Girls Lacrosse League (NGLL) Mid-Atlantic Region during the spring season. Our goal is to compete in the A Division at each age group. However, following tryouts and roster formation, our Directors will evaluate each team's composition and competitive readiness to determine the most appropriate placement. If any adjustments are made, families will be notified prior to the start of league play.

Our 2034, 2035, 2036, and 2037 teams will not participate in the NGLL. This decision is intentional and reflects our commitment to long-term athlete development. At the youth level, we believe athletes benefit most from high-quality instruction, skill development, small-sided competition, and meaningful repetitions in practice. While the NGLL provides a valuable experience for middle school athletes, we have found that younger players often gain more from focused training environments than from an additional league schedule.

Our decision is also aligned with our commitment to supporting multi-sport athletes. We strongly encourage players to participate in other sports and activities rather than specializing at an early age. By prioritizing development, allowing flexibility for other interests, and focusing on building strong fundamentals, we believe we can provide the best possible experience for our youngest athletes and help foster a lifelong love of the game.

Yes, we offer positional training in addition to team practices. This mainly applies to goalies and draw takers, but we will also offer defensive and offensive skills throughout the year. We have multiple goalie and draw coaches on staff who will take the lead in the positional training.
